Nearly a thousand of distributors, specialists and hoteliers from Valencia praise the qualities of the Valdeorras wines

Because of the presentation made by the Regulatory Council of Valdeorras in SH Palace Hotel in Valencia, on last April 12 and in which there was record of influx, wines of 18 wineries attached to the DO of Valdeorras have become creditors of the highest qualifiers awarded by the specialized sector of the  Spanish levantine capital.

Taking advantage of the international pull that the Galician wines of this DO have abroad, a fact that has resulted in an increase of 93% of the imports in 2011, the Regulatory Council of Valdeorras has shown its strong commitment to the national audience, in company of a large number of the region's wineries and being Valencia the city chosen to present the excellence of its wines.

Taking the witness of Barcelona and Madrid in Spain and of big cities like Dallas, Zurich or New York beyond our borders, once more both promoters and participants, as visitors and guests have agreed to call the presentation as a success.

This fact is reflected in the statements shared by the Regulatory Council and embodied by its technical manager, Jorge Mazaira, that offers us the following words: - We were very glad with the enthusiasm that the event raised and the public attending this. Furthermore, we were excited with the wide media coverage given to it. In turn, the participation of important technical groups from the Valencian Community have accompanied the presentation with words like "remarkable" and "excellent", reinforcing the image of the DO in the east of the peninsula -.

And Reinforcing the statements of George Mazaira, the Association of Sommeliers of Valencia (FASCV) remarked the following ratings: - The quality of the wines is amazing and excellent. The Godellos match perfectly with our cuisine and the Mencías, Garnacha and Sousones turn to be very interesting and a perfect complement to those most intense dishes-. This statements have resulted in the formal invitation of the Valencian sommeliers to the DO to participate in one of the most important wine fairs of Valencia, "The Great Wine Fair of Gandía 2012".

The presentation's valoration of the participating winemakers sector comes from the hand of Marta Sertaje, commercial director of Bodegas A Coroa. A Coroa is one of the wineries with more international awards for its 2010 vintage and has presented exclusively its new crop 2011 in Valencia. These are Marta's statements: - The act has been very successful. I was not expecting such an influx of people, but once started, and not very late, we only had to wait an hour to see the room crowded. The public had the opportunity to taste the wines that we made in Valdeorras and marveled at the quality of them. In my case, I brought the new vintage 2011, bottled for only 15 days than despite its youth, the audience liked both A Coroa 2011 and A Coroa Lias 2010. The public was also very professional in the sense that almost those who came to taste the wines were restaurant owners or staff working in them.-

After this presentation, the Regulatory Council of Valdeorras and a large number of wineries have already started to move their excellencies to the next promotional event to be held in London from 22 to 25 May.

The international industry praises the enological revolution of Valdeorras with an imports increase of 93%

The cellars of the Valdeorras Guaranty of quality almost doubled its exports in 2011, comparing with the previous year. The volume of 166,469 liters sold abroad is 93% greater than 86,196 liters of 2010, according to the data gathered by the Regulatory Council of the bottlers. Only the period of 2007, with 209,577 liters, is larger than this last campaign.

As for the types of wines exported, 106,757 liters were of the white variety and 59,712 were red wines. These figures show the good period of the godello variety, which are the grapes that top the consumers' preferences of the above two named varieties.

The American continent is the largest market for valdeorras wineries. To this land were sent 68,643 liters. More than half, 47,022 liters, were white. This variety has found in the U.S. market an intenresting customer, by consuming 42,262 liters. The European Union, with 42,327 liters, ranks the second in the list of importers. Generally, buyers show a strong preference for whites, as shown by the acquisition of 38,599 liters of such wines. By the contrary, the rest of Europe prefers the red wines, with a purchase of 28,868 liters of this variety.

United States and Switzerland, with 49,834 and 31,845 liters respectively, are the largest importers. This fact fully justifies the foreign cities chosen by the Regulatory Council to present their wines. On October 24th, a dozen cellars presented their wines in Zurich (Switzerland). Five months earlier, on May 19th, seven bottlers brought their wines to the 'Great Match' in Dallas (USA).

"The promotional events organized by the Council were scheduled for those countries that reflect the major exports and have a larger number of purchases', said the President of the Valdeorras Regulatory Council, Jose Luis Garcia Pando.

The Regulatory Council refers to a favorable combination of 'quality, price, raw material and development' to justify the wines' success of the Guarantee of Origin. A proof of this are the awards and the mentions by enology experts. The last success was achieved by the "Godeval winery" for its wine 'Godeval 2010'. It was ranked in the 71st position of the 100 best wines in the world by the prestigious American magazine 'Wine Spectator', being the only Spanish white wine.

"It's not a surprising. We had already been highly valued, "said Horacio Fernandez Presa, Godeval's technical director. The Valdeorras' winery has its major markets in the U.S., Canada, China, Japan and the UK, exporting 40% of a production of 150,000 bottles. This percentage exceeds widely 4% the production intended for exports.

For its part, the Valdeorras' winery 'A Coroa' is well-consolidated in Asia, getting a remarkable silver medal in the contest named "Best Spanish wines to Asia", held in Hong Kong. Thus, the Valdeorras godello achieved a deserved recognition for its quality, standard-bearer for the effort that some wineries have been doing over several years by to be known in new markets.

As this happens, the commitment of the DO Valdeorras with its followers is evident with new mariage bets, so you can enjoy with these magnificent wines at its finest essence.

ADEGA A COROA S.A.T.

Right in the Valdeorras Valley, already known from ancient times for being one of the natural doorways to Galicia, the A Coroa winery is situated surrounded by sunny hillside vineyards.

The A Coroa winery is at a strategic and historical place; located in a central zone of the Gigurri territory, the XVIII via passed 200 metres to the south and 300 to the north was the gold mine, La Pala.

The winery occupies a small promontory that gives it its name, Coroa or Corona, where a Castreño villiage associated with the previously mentioned gold mine was located.

Because of its geographic situation and the importance of the history of the land, the winery has been reconstructed following the strictest parameters of antiquity: rock, clay, slate and wood. A Coroa has managed to integrate in this emblematic building, part of the history of Valdeorras, and the surroundings that give it its privileged location in this vitivinicultural county.

Wineries A Coroa, with a natural awareness of ecology, is committed to harmony with nature and its surroundings as a way of life. Respect for the environment is a vital principle of all activities.
