The World Wine Contest in Brussels rewards Viñaredo Sousón

One more year the reference tasting in the European wine industry - "The World Wine Contest of Brussels" - elevates the quality of the DO Valdeorras appellation through Sousón Viñaredo, belonging to the winery of Santa Marta, with a remarkable silver medal.

The winery Santa Marta is setting trends in one of the reference wine tasting and, as usual in recent years, the 2013 edition was remarable for the Viñaredo wines, this time through Sousón, which achieved a deserved silver medal.

Sousón Viñaredo belongs to a limited production of 1800 bottles of the 2010 vintage, made with the variety Souson, typical of Galicia and very limited in its varietal form. It is obtained from strains with a minimum of 35 years and its manufacturing process is performed by a fermentative maceration at 4 ° C during 4 days and  later controlled fermentation at 24 º C, followed by an ageing of eight months in oak barrels and 4 months in bottle.

Its tasting note is:

This wine appears as a bright one with dense blue and purplish red colour. Its aroma is clean and intense and the smell of red fruit stands out clearly. When first tasting it is soft and with roasted aroma. It is fresh and warm wine which appears as velvety with a correct astringent, well balanced and with a long lasting aroma after taste.

Santa Marta is a familiy winery that elaborates and produces its own wine since 1998 with one main aim: The quality of its wines must be watch on all through out the process, that is from the vine to the bottle.

Santa Marta’s vineyard is located at an altitude of 600 metres in an area where the climate is characterized by cold winters and warm summers. This vineyard is framed within a plan of integral production where the respect to vines and grapes is considered as basic for the elaboration of good wines.

On the next step, when the raw material is  at the winery, all the elaboration process is done with great precision as Santa Marta has the ideal and necessary technological innovations to do so.

What we look forward to is to seek precision in each process so as to obtain the best quality wines as certified by all the prizes we have received. All Santa Marta’s wines belong to the D.O of Valdeorras.

In addition, Santa Marta has pioneered to launch one of the great delicatessen under the seal of quality of the DO Valdeorras appellation: the toasted wine Viñaredo, a product that combines ancient tradition and modernity, and of which we will talk to you soon from the mother of the wine.

The Godello of the DO Valdeorras appellation receives great international qualifications at Fenavin, while it starts a with promotional presentation in Japan

The Godello of the DO Valdeorras appellation, through its 2012 harvest, has received high praise from international importers at Fenavin, while the Regulatory Council starts with the promotional events of his trip to Japan.

The most important fair of the wine sector of Spain, FENAVIN, has closed its doors between large praisers for the 2012 harvest of the Godello of the DO Valdeorras appellation that, furthermore, has drawn the attention of the major markets such as the Belgian and Japanese.

If  just a week ago, when the red wines were the most appreciated by the European sector in Switzerland, now the white wines are the ones which have aroused great interest among those attending Fenavin, achieving at the same time international contacts for their import.

And this is ratified by the technical Director of the DO Valdeorras appellation, Jorge Mazaira: "The fair has turned to be very positive due to the interesting contacts made, and the Belgian and Japanese importers emphasized the quality of our wines. The main attraction were the godellos, which enjoy of a great reputation in the industry. "

And this statement is not trivial, as Japan is the next promotional destination of the DO Valdeorras wines abroad. Furthermore, if it is true that there are wineries already settled in the Japanese market, the interest that the DO Valdeorra is arousing among the Japanese industry experts, has led to occasional visits of them to the county to know, "in situ",  the idiosyncrasy that characterizes the wines of Valdeorras.

Thus, Tokyo is  the city which gives a warm welcome to the wines of the DO Valdeorras appellation within the events of the Vinalitur Fair to be held between today, May 13, and tomorrow, May 14, through some acts in which the Regulatory Council will act on behalf of several wineries attached to the Valdeorras quality seal.

Fenavin will be the next scene of the new crop of the DO Valdeorras appellation

After the succesful critics  received in Switzerland,  the wines of the DO Valdeorras appellation  come back to Spain to present their new crop in one of the most important fair of the sector, Fenavin, to be held in Ciudad Real from 7 to 9 May.

Once more,  the Regulatory Council and a large number of wineries of the DO Valdeorras appellation will attend the reference fair of the Spanish wine sector.

"FENAVIN is the Spanish wine industry´s most important global trade fair". This is how both the EL PAÍS newspaper, in an article in its Business supplement, and ICEX, refer to the National Wine Fair

It is an opinion shared by Spanish wineries and cooperatives, which have supported FENAVIN as a tool for boosting the Spanish wine sector at home and abroad since it first opened its doors. The sector appreciates the efficient system used by the Fair year after year. The Fair´s management continues to work towards the same goal: Helping demand and supply to meet and do business using sensible and efficient business tools.

This system, focused on the needs of buyers, has made FENAVIN, in just six years, into Spain most important wine industry trade fair and the only one offering a focused business environment. This is why, at FENAVIN 2011, 1,197 vineyards, from all over Spain, attended the event, held in eight pavilions. Almost all the Spanish Designation of Origin regions signed trade agreements at Spains top wine event.

Since it started, FENAVIN has specialized in encouraging export trade: An international approach that has allowed the Spanish wine industry to establish a presence in the most important international markets. To encourage export trade, the Fair has delegations all over the world: In 2011 2,740 buyers from 54 countries attended, 626 of them actively organized by the Fair´s management team.

This dedication to trade also means that FENAVIN pays special attention to national buyers. So much so that 9,442 Spanish buyers attended and worked hard at the 2011 event.

Therefore, the Regulatory Council and the following wineries belonging to the DO Valdeorras appellation will be present at this important event, through which the international prestige that qualifies the wines of Valdeorras will be endorsed as "the winemaking revolution of the XXI Century".
