Pingadelo Godello, Godeval,  Godeval Cepas Vellas and Bioca Goello are decorated with silver Medals in the Zarcillo Awards 2013.

The white Godellos of the DO Valdeorras appellation get four silver medals in the Zarcillo Awards 2013, a fact that ratifies the great harvest of Godello 2012 in Valdeorras and that positions a this DO as the most awarded among its Galician counterparts.

The Zarcillo Awards were created in 1991 as part of the climax of the events for the European Year of Tourism on the initiative of the Regional Ministries for Culture and Tourism, Agriculture and Farming of the Junta de Castilla y León, with the commitment to hold a national wine contest with the objective of promoting and defending the quality of Spanish wines.

Twenty two years later, the Zarcillo Awards have reached their XV national and their VIIinternational edition. Over the years, it has been consolidated as the most important national event for Spanish wines with the intention of making it one of the most prestigious contests in the world.

The methodology used to give awards to the best wines is comprised of a complex system for receiving the samples and strict control by computer for processing the data provided by the juries. Throughout the duration of the event, the rules stipulate that an expert representative of the O.I.V, with the technical support of the Oenological Station of Castilla y León, must ensure that the standard is complied with. For four days, the best wine tasters in the world and the best trained palates on the planet will congregate to judge which wines are the best in the contest. The rules stipulate that any wine producing country in the world is allowed to participate in accordance with the definition adopted by the International Wine Organisation, whose samples are classified into seven categories: whites, rosés, reds, semi-sparkling, sparkling, liqueur and aromatic varieties

For its part, we present you the wines of the DO Valdeorras appellation awarded in the competition:
