The star of the day: Sil river
In the shores of the Sil, moreover of cultivating large expanse of vineyards, it was carried out the extraction of gold nuggests. In Roman time, it was built a huge tunnel digging the mountain, in the place of Montefurado (“pierced mountain”), with the aim of diverting the river and to extract the gold that it was gragged washing the mud of the old basin. Experts have said that only of “Las Médulas” were extracted almost 100 ton of gold during their occupation. Many of these crops were traslated to Rome.
