New Gold medals for DO Valdeorras' godellos in
the competition Les Citadelles Du Vin, France, which will hold its 2012 awards
ceremony at Vinexpo Asia-Pacific, in Hong Kong.
Les Citadelles Du Vin, one of the wine
contests with the greatest impact on the planet celebrated in France, has
returned to elevate the Godello DO Valdeorras with gold medals for Bioca
Godello 2011 and A Coroa Lias 2010.
In a context in which spanish white wines have
shared four golds, the Godellos DO Valdeorras shine with their own light
getting two top honors, and being seconded as far as the Galician wine refers,
for two Albariño from Rias Baixas valued with medals silver.
Bioca 100% Godello, elaborated by the winery
Maria Teresa Nuñez Vega and that has won a multitude of international awards
for its harvest 2011, was one of the great wines awarded with gold. Its tasting notes are as follows: "Lemon color, very lifted
floral style, with jasmine and orange blossom. Good level of acidity, with
spice on the midpalate, layers of complexity, and a long finish".
A Coroa Lías 2010 has been the other DO
Valdeorras wine honored with the highest award by the French specialists,
showing the great prestige that certifies the winery A Coroa internationally.
His tasting notes are as follows: "The wine is big, very fresh, and balanced on the palate. Sensations
of mature fruit, hints of balsamic and flowers. Smooth, and gifted with the
appropriate acidity.Long
persistent aftertaste with a light varietal tartness gives fullness in the
mouth".
Every year, in May, some 40 top level tasters from all over the world meet in Bourg (Bordeaux-France) for three days to elect the best wines out of 800 samples coming from about 30 countries.
The contest has now attained a significant level of samples and international recognition (70% of foreign wines), making the Citadelles du Vin one of the key competitions of the world.
In 2012, the award ceremony and the promotion of the prize winning wines will take place during Vinexpo Asia-Pacific, the very influential international wine and spirit exhibition held in Hong Kong.
The contest has now attained a significant level of samples and international recognition (70% of foreign wines), making the Citadelles du Vin one of the key competitions of the world.

With this new recognition it has been
strengthened the international boom that has positioned the wines of the DO
Valdeorras as ones of the trendiest in the international wine sector, becoming

under the seal of quality DO Valdeorras.
